East of England Training Awards 2008

The British Racing School at Newmarket was the magnificent setting for the 2008 East of England  Training Awards, organised by SummitSkills, HVCA, BEST and JTL on behalf of building services engineering to celebrate the best of the sector’s workforce in the region.

The event attracted a packed audience of more than 80 guests, which included nominee’s friends and family, sponsors, trade associations and regional representatives. A rousing speech on environmental issues was given by key speaker James Beal, managing director of Renewables East, who presented the awards to the eight winners:

  • Junior Apprentice of the Year
    Mark Veness - Adcock Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd
  • Senior Apprentice of the Year Silver Award
    Mark Austin Bond - Anglia Electrical Services
  • Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
    David Woolf - Sotham Engineering Services
  • Senior Apprentice of the Year Gold Award
    Shaun Plant - Integrated Control Solutions (Eastern Region) Ltd
  • Building Services Engineering Technician of the Year
    Mark Finch - Elyo Suez
  • Outstanding Achievement of the Year
    Tim Smith - Ecogale Services Ltd
  • Incorporated Engineer of the Year
    Mark Long - EYRE (Norwich)
  • Practical Competence Award of the Year
    David Beddoe - Elite Services (ENV) Ltd
